Privacy Policy
Last Updated: 21st June 2026
This privacy policy explains how Honeypot collects, uses, and protects your data.
What data do we collect?
Honeypot collects and stores data relevant to its operation, including the IDs of channels and servers you've set up the bot in and your Honeypot configuration information. Honeypot may also temporarily cache this information in memory to help improve the efficiency and effectiveness of its process. This cached information is held for a maximum of 14 days, and is not persisted on any long term storage.
Honeypot does not collect or store any personal information, such as your name, email address, password, etc.
Honeypot uses the Discord API to provide its service, with their privacy policy applying to their own platform data.
How do we use your data?
Honeypot uses your data to provide and improve the service. We use your data to:
- Create and manage Honeypot channels, that take a specified action once a user sends a message in them.
- Create and manage Honeypot logging channels to notify users when the bot takes an action.
- Keep track of the number of actions taken by the bot and the type of actions taken, for debugging and display purposes.
How do we protect your data?
We take reasonable measures to protect your data from unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Your data is stored on a secure database, not accessible to the rest of our users. However, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your data, as no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
How long do we keep your data?
We keep your data for as long as you use the service or until you delete your data. If you wish to delete your data, send us a deletion request to privacy@honeypotbot.com including your user ID and server ID. This will remove all your existing linked data from our database.
Removing the bot from your servers does not constitute a request to remove your information, allowing items like configuration to persist if the bot is re-added.
How do we share your data?
We do not sell, rent, or trade your data with any third parties. We may share your data with:
- Service providers who help us operate and maintain the service.
- Law enforcement or regulatory authorities, if required by law or legal process.
How do we update this policy?
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable laws. We will notify you of any material changes by posting a notice on our discord server. Your continued use of the service after any changes to this policy constitutes your acceptance of the new policy.
